What is a standard sized deck?
We start our minimum square footage at 192 square feet with railings, which is equivalent to a 12’x 16′ deck.

What is the season for building decks?
Weather permitting, we work all year round.

What determines when my deck will be built?
We schedule our building dates in the order that we sign contracts with clients, we give estimates all year long.

How far will you travel to build my deck?
We will travel approximately 45 minutes in any direction from Lancaster, NY without additional charges.

Do you charge for estimates?
Our estimates are given free of charge for homeowners who are interested in building a deck with us.

How long will it take to build a deck?
Based on an average size deck, 200 – 500 square feet, it will take approximately 2-5 days to complete your deck, weather permitting after your footings have been set.

Why should you choose Buscaglia Decks?
We stand behind all of our workmanship and give you the utmost attention to detail and quality in every aspect of the deck we build.

Why install lighting?
The deck post lights we offer provide you with incredible ambiance and allow you to utilize your deck longer in the evening without the need for alternative light sources. They also provide added security to your home with exterior lighting. Also, the low voltage LED bulbs save money and do not attract insects.

Do you need a building permit?
Most towns require a permit, if one is needed a drawing will be provided by Buscaglia Decks which should be taken along with your survey to your local building department.

How do you build your substructure?
In general post-holes are dug 42-48″ deep and thoroughly tamped at the base to prevent future sinking. Sonic tube is then placed at the top portion of the hole to keep it cylindrical.

The post-hole is then filled entirely with concrete and a galvanized or powder coated post support is placed on top. This secures the 4 x 4 on the surface of the concrete and not into the concrete. Our support beam uses 2- 2 x 10’s attached to the 4 x 4 with a ½ ” x 8″ bolt over the concrete.

Our 12″ on-center framework is then built on top of the support beam according to design, height, weight, and floor pattern desired.
